The Sixth Street Shelter provides short-term and long-term transitional housing programs.

The Sixth Street Shelter helps homeless families turn their lives around, not just by putting a roof over their heads, but by giving them the tools to solve their own problems and move toward self-sufficiency. Programs are offered in areas such as parenting, finances, life skills, and preparation for the GED. During their stay at the Shelter, family members work with the Shelter’s caseworkers to design a goal plan, which includes a search for permanent housing, life skills education, and a budget plan.
